We were going to go shopping yesterday, but decided instead to drive about 2.5 hours into WV to look at some insulators posted on Facebook. The best one was a pinkish BGM Co CD 134, but unfortunately it looks like it spent years rolling around in a creek. The first picture is what it looked like when I got it, but I gave it a quick acid bath and it looked better. I'll probably investigate having it tumbled to see if I can get it to look better (cf. the big discussion about the appropriateness of tumbling on ICON). I know that the pitting is fairly deep. I thought I would talk to a tumbling person and get their opinion about whether tumbling could make it look a little better. I was thinking maybe a light tumbling would take off some of the surface scratches to clear up the glass in places, but then just leave the pitting and deeper scratches, which I would be OK with. Too bad it spent so much time in the creek. |
