Who would have thought that solar-powered consumer radios were around 54 years ago? This one was. These receivers (see advertising text) were designed for AM reception and charging the special batteries within it. I've never seen one of these. I'm sure they were pretty expensive!

Added note: Zenith introduced the first television remote controls about 1957, known as their "Space Command". For many years the Sears, Roebuck and Company had their televisions made for them by Zenith. Through the 1980s, you couldn't kill their sets, they (in my opinion) were the very best.
