Every morning I have a coffee at a local café. One of the regulars came in and asked me if I had been out to the accident site. Said a truck must have overturned as there were crates of insulators all over the ditch busted open and spread out towards the field. I know how old geezers tend to make more out of a story than there is, but I still had the need to go see. Three pallets – 36 crates of suspensions, were delivered to this site by a boom truck. There is no excuse for this. The pallets were set on the sloped shoulder of the road and obviously fell over tearing themselves apart in the process. Just six feet- SIX FEET, further is flat, level ground. Ontario has, I believe, the highest rate for electricity in NA. A recent bill for 388Kwh cost $80, or by my calculation 21C/kw. I'm sure at least part of the cost is related to skilled help such as this employee, who, no matter his job performance, once he is in the union, can not be held accountable and fired. I do expect that the integrity of all of these insulators has been compromised and that all of them are now dumpster material. Original as well as the replacement insulators are paid for with my tax dollars. I am not a fan of Unions. They may have been necessary years ago. In this day and age, I believe a company should have the right to fire people like this, who are incompetent, steal or even just speak ill of the company that hands them a pay check. It is the taxpayers who are paying this jerks wages and the Union, also financed by tax dollars, protects him. No, I'm not a Union supporter. You can't fix stupid.......Remington, Winchester, Colt all tried, even Gatling could not fix the problem. |
