A friend suggested I check out one larger town in southwest Minnesota to see if any 4160V construction remained, and what I found was a virtually untouched 1940s circuit with a number of crossarm-mounted transformer banks, each more interesting than the last. This one had to be the best, with steel alley-arm braces holding up the bottom arm and an extra metal brace to support a secondary rack guiding one drop past the primary drop-line! A closer look shows the arms were already past their sell-by date and the extra braces were just staving off the inevitable. A check in street view shows a replacement pole in place as of 2022. |
