I found this odd plaque at the local flea market today. It's roughly 4" x 5", and appears to be stamped from copper or brass. It's embossed as follows: BEWARE OF THE DOG AS FROM 1st May, 1864. Sir JOHN RUMBLELOW Will not be responsible for trespassers attacked beyond this point It could very well be a fake or repop, but the price was right so I took a chance. I also had to ask myself, why fake something so weird and obscure? An internet search revealed a few that had sold on a site called "Worthpoint." But the site wanted me to join to see the prices. I concluded it was a scam site and left. Anyone know anything about this item? |
