Normally taking pictures of very early porcelain insulators in direct sunlight will, if the camera is set properly, capture the colour pretty close to it's true look. So I did a comparison shot of several very early New Lexington pieces and the identical Fred Locke designs from which they were derived .These two dead end spools are literally identical except one is marked with Fred Locke marking 6-1 and the other marked New Lexington, O. The NL spool has such a light blond glaze is skewed the whole photo . The NL spool is almost identical to the Locke unit in all respects including the glaze weld joints .
