Shown is a vintage General Electric Type-I Thomson High Torque watt hour meter. I finally acquired one with a mint glass cover at a very good price. It came with a nice little oval meter tag that reads, COUNTIES GAS & ELEC. CO. I restored the meter by cleaning the upper guide bearing, lower pivot and pivot jewel, cleaned the leaves of the worm, cleaned and reset the register, and finally removed any iron filings attached to the damper magnets. Reassembled the meter and gave it a test run on a 5 ampere load (two 300 watt incandescent lamps in parallel, 600 watts = 5 amps @ 120 volts). Meter runs very well, YEA! |
