Last year the other guy who dug at New Lexington showed me what I thought was a large transformer bushing. I don't like; or even collect transformer bushings. It looked brand new and was a beautiful red/ brown characteristic New Lexington glaze. I didn't give it any second thought or even pay it any attention to it aside from noticing the attractive glaze. Last night I got a copy of an old catalog from Elton Gish, and wait a minute; that's not a transformer bushing. It's the most outrageous, ridiculous spool made. This was one of the pieces that made me think the New Lexington factory was bulldozed with all the inventory still in the warehouse as it was obviously not a reject. I've found too many mint pieces and so has Josh. I'm going to try and get pictures of what he found now that I really know what it is. |
