I found this cool splice on an old phone line to a fire lookout in the Umpqua National Forest in Oregon a few years ago. It was in an area that had ravaged by a forest fire. The insulators were all white porcelain donuts. Much of the line was on the ground. I spotted this splice between two trees. I thought it was so artistically done, I decided to grab it. I was able to bend the wire back and forth to snap it. I curled the ends, and this is the result!
