CNR Railway Lantern

Picked up this cool CNR lantern from a fellow insulator collector.

The history is that it was a retirement gift for a retiring CN employee. Looks like someone put a lot of time into this piece. It is pristine.

The kerosene pot has no rust and the wick/assembly is mint. Also, did not know that there is a PYREX glass chimney that completes the unit. These are hard to find, in fact all the lamps I have seen at shows/antique stores were missing this PYREX insert.

The lenses are flawless and almost look lit up in certain light. Also learned that lantern lenses may appear blue, however, when the lamp is lit they are green. This is because a Blue lens plus yellow flame = green appearance.

The name plate was removed 2 owners ago. It would have been neat to have that also.

May have to make some room for the lantern collection that is growing.
