This is the 1972 reprint of the 1866 book, HISTORY, THEORY AND PRACTICE OF THE ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH. It was originally published in 1866 by George B. Prescott and this is the Fourth Revised Edition. It was reprinted in 1972 by Cambridge University Press, Welch Bigelow and Co. under the supervision of Frank Jones. It is 508 pages plus an additional 6 pages added from another old telegraph book that shows illustrations of threadless insulators including a wood-covered Wade, wood block Insulator and Brooks ramshorn insulators, etc. This is a hardcover book that was originally issued without a dust jacket (as seen) and has a sturdy blue cloth binding with mininmal wear and is in excellent used condition. Insulator collectors will be VERY interested in the information on early telegraph construction, materials, etc. that is discussed in this book. I have only ever seen 1 other copy of this book come up for sale in the past 6 years, so grab this one while you can. You may never find another copy!! An essential addition to any serious collectors library!!
