This happened yesterday, a few streets over from my house on the CSX overpass. This semi driver apparently thought 13' 6" would make it despite there being 5 other signs posted well before he reached this underpass. He was wrong and got peeled like a banana. What blows the mind is, that he made it half way through indicating that he was going well over the 35 MPH speed limit. In any case, all train traffic was suspended for most of the day, and this is a high volume line. So when I spoke to the CSX bridge/trestle inspector, he told me that not only is the driver getting nailed with city tickets and CSX damage fines, his company is also getting nailed with the amount of money lost by suspending all train traffic. When the sign states 12' 7".... It really DOES mean 12' 7". Guess who will never be a licensed OTR driver ever again? |
