Bridgewater, MA c.1910, Town Centre, Electric Utility Lines

This historic community is in Southeastern MA (about six miles directly south of where I live on SR 18). Some of the old buildings on the right still remain as well as the picturesque town common and park on the far left.

Electricity was provided in Bridgewater's earliest days via a coal-fired steam plant a couple miles from where this photo was taken. In the teens the town's electrical system became part of the Brockton Edison Company network. The forementioned power plant was part of the area's electrical grid until 1971.
