This CD 254 looks as though it had supported a pretty beefy cable. Instead of the normal light cable rub typically seen in the saddle area, this one shows an "image" of the actual cable. I have received many comments on this photo, and the consensus opinion is that this is the result of a heavy cable load swaying, moving, or vibrating against the glass, possibly aided in the frictional grinding process by grit picked up on the conductor.
