This is a 1907 type or 1Um for telegraph use but instead to have the red stripe it has a green stripe at the bottom and the mark Richard-Ginori. The type 1907 was used in italian telegraph lines untill about 1920 when it was replaced by the type 1/1920. Probably the technicians, at times, needed to keep the old pins, designed for the types Um (which could not support the types 1920 because shorter), for replacements, and given that the colour of the stripe for telegraphs after 1920 was the green, Richard-Ginori had to create special models 1907 with green band. The pictures on the right explain that theory because they show the two 1907 types with red and green stripe in the same place. They are very rare, only 3 specimens known. This insulator has been rescued in Emilia Romagna region by my friends Christian and Guido. |
