These short, typically two pin crossarms are still seen all over the downtown area and beyond here in Bristol, CT. Once part of the city's fire call box system, they've sat inactive for almost twenty years. In 1995, the town figured out that no-one had used any of the call boxes since the '80s. With cell phone proliferation there was even less reason to maintain the system. There are some striking Hemi blue pieces here and there, and possibly a few greenies. One pole I had my eye on since 2001 has been recently plucked...not by me, sad to say. |
