I was out walking the old NYC Canadaigua and Suspension Bridge line this past Sunday looking for threadless or old pole sites. I spotted a 10" Garter snake on the embankment, and then realized he had company! There had to be a dozen of them around a hole in the rocks. This was the first really warm day we've had so far this year and, like me, they just wanted a little sunshine!
