Here is the motor control panel from a flour mill which was originally built in the 1890's. During the 1910's the steam powered equipment was replaced with a very large electric motor which drove most all equipment through belts and pulleys. This panel operated at 220 volts and through the contactors at bottom, operated a set of oil switches via solenoid controlled rockshafts. These shafts were parallel with the bottom of the panel and ran across the tops of the banks of switches. The oil switches handled the 2300 volt operating pressure of the main machinery. There are two circles at the top revealing equipment which was liberated by someone before me (probably something cool looking) The bushings at the bottom of the picture is a three pole capacitor which was on the service entrance end of the rack. The plate shows a rating of 2.4 KV and 18 Farad capacitance. It is obviously more modern than the panel or transformer, but I decided the porcelain bushings would display the unit well once I cleaned it up. Enjoy.
