The interior of the one room school my wife and I have restored and now use as a living history museum. The woodwork is original and the flooring is oak. We managed to preserve most of the plaster walls and even wound up with a mostly complete set official records including meeting minutes, pupil information and so on. We also learned the school was constructed during the summer of 1894, the old documents describing the decisions leading up to the eventual hiring of a carpenter and purchase of materials. We have a website dedicated to this schoolhouse, known locally as Belleview. It is www.belleviewschoolhouse.org The website is titled Country School Museum since we are attempting to preserve yet another one room school.
