Niagara, Lockport, and Ontario Power Co. outdoor "Substation". Here were have what they call a substation in 1906. It's amazing how simple these power distribution systems were compared with the systems we have in place today. This is just a system of switches and fuses. There are no voltage regulators, shunt reactors, circuit breakers or metering devices. These pioneering systems really are a true testament to the nature of man's desire to reach out for technology.
