Here is a photo of a page out of my 1949 Westinghouse catalog #100 showing a variety of wireholders. The photo I just posted is similar to the catalog item #1950. The catalog states: "Extra heavy type. Long leakage distances. Used for transformer primary leads and series lighting units." A friend commented to me that he has seen brown units like this in street lighting usage. The catalog refers to these as wireholders.
