Here is a randomly selected pic from my files of what results using the simple photo set up I posted here [id=390932560]. A piece pf white paper and sunlight is all it takes. If no sun is available, a lamp can be substituted. But I personally like sunlight best (preference) since I like to know how insulators look in "nature." The 5000K bulbs are nice, but they are man-made, synthetic "natural" and tend to rob some colors from some insulators. With the 5000K bulbs, all of my olive amber Brookfields tend to lose most of their amber and become simply olive green. My pea soup beehive turns to a spearmint green in these lights - losing most of its yellow tones. BTW, this is a pic taken before I learned to get as level with the insulator's base as I could. But it is not far off. You can also see form the square bottom of the gray area under the insulator that I added some white area - not sure why I did this though! |
