Well before the days when big trucks would hydraulically lift a new pole into position, here we have several men of a line gang with "pike poles" grabbing into the new pole and setting it up into position. This method probably is still employed in remote areas there is no truck access nor the ability of vertically setting a new pole via helicopter. Location unknown.
