I spotted, and bought, this off Colin Yennie's 3-for-$5 table. It looks like the lineman just couldn't quit! And note the split bolt that connects a stranded conductor to this mess. Incredibly cool!

On some reflection, this might not have been a dead end. Maybe the line wire on the left originally went through, but was just bent back around the insulator after being cut. But it isn't matched by an equally complex wrap job on the right! Who knows? Only the Shadow...
