Paired telephone cable (lowermost) is viewed here and there is a wood junction box probably associated with this then-new kind of communication line cable construction. On the second pole is a small electric distribution transformer between the second and third crossarms for local electric lighting customers. Further in the background is some 10-pin crossarm construction...most likely for area phone subscriber service.

The mast arm arc light seen was serviced and lowered to street level via a winch mounted on the pole (not visible). Also about at eye-level are wooden pole steps. They sort of looked like insulator sidepins but without the threaded-insulator portion. They were of softer, of more contoured material (wood) and design than the blunt metal ones so that pedestrians, horses, etc., accidentally bumping into them would avoid much less injury, if any harm at all.
