Really cool, interesting telephone line construction here! Also note the telephone sign on the left with a skinny 10-pin pole on the right in the background ;-)

Quite possibly the sign was where the local telephone office was. In the early days many rural communities had their switchboards and office within usual residential buildings with the operator's connections set up in the parlor.
