Image taken on 14th Street. One can only image what kinds of great telegraph insulators once lined this street ;-) It is possible this photo goes back to the very early 1880s with electric lighting and phone wires within view. The original SV had a 1870s reference on it. Whether that is positively accurate or not, this certainly is a nice early view of openwire that traversed along one of New York City's streets.
