Philadephia PA Downtown Early 1880s Victorian Utility Poles

Check out the fine design of the poles on the right! This photo was taken not long after the beginning during the Victorian era when products to buildings...and all in between...emerged. And at a time when all sorts of stuff was designed for ultimate aesthetics and of course quality!

These ornate pole lines (as seen on the right) could have carried very early electric lighting circuits. Note the rather big (porcelain?) insulators too!

The pole line along the left supported telegraph lines (utilizing "ramshorn" type insulators for supporting such wires beneath their crossarms).
