All of the McLaughlin-made glass whimsies I have found were made from 5-gallon glass bottles, which weigh in at around 12 pounds each. So this find really caught my attention. It screams McLaughlin made, but I am not 100% sure. Pro: The color of the glass is dark delft blue- a McLaughlin color, it is a reshaped water bottle, and the reshaped design is thematically like many McLaughlin whimsies. [id=377912590]

Con: This glass whimsy weighs just 6 and 3/4 pounds, about half the weight of a 5-gallon bottle, did McLaughlin make smaller glass whimsies?; the glass ribs on the larger whimsies are typically large and open on both ends, the ribs are closed on the ends of this smaller piece.

In a July 9, 2013 email, Bob McLaughlin stated his belief that the glass object was made by his grandfather and uncles at the McLaughlin Glass Works and is probably a one-of-a-kind experiment.
