Cluttered pole with telephone and CATV cables in New Jersey adorn this scenic image. Quite possibly competing companies share this pole (or poles). This rather commonplace scene reminds me of the overhead so-called unsightly utility clutter the public had been complaining about since the 1880s in urban communites and elsewhere. Anyway, some things do not change, except there are no insulators visible here. None needed. There is *so* much communications architecture routed along here that two or three shorter poles are physically tied-in for keeping them straight up and vertical. Just imagine if all of this was open-wire. Definitely bucket truck work, don't you think? Cool 21st century pole line stuff, eh? |
