This insulator was found on a main Amtrak line near Old Saybrook. It has no markings and the glaze has a metallic reflection that is a dark maroon/brown. The top was sloppily glazed which resulted in a speckled top with many small parts of the porcelain remaining uncovered. One of the "ears" has small indents where a worker would have picked up the piece while it was not completely dry. There are also what looks like fingerprint marks where the indents are. The indents are not very noticeable but can be seen upon closer investigation. The glaze looks like it was probably painted on with a brush. The pin-hole was left unglazed, another sign that this was made in a rush with little attention to quality.
