While out driving the back roads today I came across the GOAB or Gang Operated Air Break switch on the old Quihi (Kwee-he) Texas 69,000 volt transmission line, circa 1940's construction, 4/0-ACSR (Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced) conductor. This switch is used to isolate the East to West line. There use to be another tap that started here and went North, there is still 3 eyebolts spaced out on the timbers where the suspensions hung for this tap, but that section was removed about 5 months ago. |
