Exrta "free" and "Useful" software can accidentally be installed

Several programs that may regularly update your computer come with additions you may not want. See the above example. Here we want to download just Adobe Flash Player but along comes McAfee Security Scan Plus...

Be sure you uncheck the box that says "also include this free tool" ... or whatever wording they use...

Other software I have seen get tacked on to these installs is the Ask Toolbar and Google Chrome.

To me, it's a crime that an outfit like Adobe "tricks" you into installing these "extras" ... and I can bet the kick back Adobe gets from McAfee for getting yet one more person to download this stuff...

Here is another example with the install of Java asking to install the "Ask toolbar". Just say NO!

This install of Adobe Reader comes with the Chrome Browser. Another piece of software you may not want... (although it is better than either of the above "included for free" applications!
