Cold Winter morning. This very patient Kingfisher is perched on a phone drop over a small stream that has not froze over yet. He is fishing for small minnows that inhabit this creek. These birds are very fun to watch as they dive bomb the water submerging under it to capture small fish. They eat them whole like a Pelican does. It is amazing how many small 3-5" fish they can consume in a singe foraging hunt .Smart little buggers too and hard to get close enough to photograph. Definitely camera shy!
