December is going down as the warmest on record. Instead of two feet of snow, the grass is still growing and some trees are in bud. So I am somewhat perplexed as to why this red-bellied woodpecker showed up at the feeder. They are supposed to be common in this area but in 60 years this is a first for me. Maybe it's the peanuts in the birdseed. This was the first time we put this particular mix out and yes, you can smell the peanut oil. , Bottom disc is a ten inch yellow Lapp., Not the best picture, but also not bad for a digital camera that is 10 years old next Tuesday !
