A complete suspension from a MV line of 1930's, dismantled in the 1980's. Insulators were manufactured by Ginori in 1929. I found these insulators in the ground, buried by the line crew to avoid to take up them, because the place is far from roads and insulators are heavy to carry by hand... The hardware of the line is particular, it is the first time I see bronze shoes and parts. After a cleaning with hydrocloric acid to remove rust and a vigorous brushing with a steel brush, they shine like new, except for the bolts that are deeply corroded after more than 80 years. |
