This spool measures 3 inches tall X 3 3/4" wide on the top skirt. Bottom skirt is 3 1/4 " wide. The colour is badly distorted by the flash. It is a true Dark Chocolate Brown. I am trying to determine if there is a blotout??? on the shoulder of the top skirt. If so, it covers 1/2 the distance around the spool, the other half is smooth with no marking. Conjecture permits something exotic like " Queensland Power Company ", "New South Wales Telephone Co", or, " Western Australia Electric Co. ", but as I say, this is all pie in the sky. I really don't know. In truth, I have no idea what is written on the shoulder of this spool, but it is from Australia, and was given to me by a new collector from New South Wales, while visiting here at the Insulator Ranch, in Merritt, B.C.. last summer. He also had no idea what was inscribed on the spool, but had 2 identical units, so he gave one to me. Do you have a spool with similar markings, that perhaps are readable?. I would appreciate any help to learn what (if anything) is marked on the shoulder of this spool. |
