Up for sale is probably one of the most impressive copper tie wires I've ever seen. This piece originate from use here in London, Ontario on secondary distribution lines throughout some of the older parts of the city. Most of this glass is now long gone, and the bit of this original 19-teens installation that remains is going fast. Of a group of a few dozen insulators I received from a line crew this past spring, few of them still retained the original wire, and this one was by far the most impressive. This simple [010] BROOKFIELD CD 164 has two - that's right - TWO strands of No. 2 guage copper line wire heavily bound to the glass by a No. 4 guage copper tie wire. Both sets of wire still retain most of their original cloth covering. I'm really not sure why two conductors were used, but it sure contributes a lot to a Brookfield CD 164 with a LOT of character.

The condition of the Brookfield is good, with two small open bubbles on the front base edge (1/4" and 1/8"), and a 3/8" shallow inner skirt slice.

This piece is definitely more about the heavy tie wire than the insulator itself. A must have for the die-hard tie wire collector (since there are so many of you out there), I'm asking $22.00 US plus shipping for this piece. You won't find another like it. I accept PayPal, or personal cheque from any member of ICON or any collector with whom I have dealt before. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or for more photos, and look through my other items or unsold sales stock to combine shipping on items. All the best!
