We are fortunate that the trees surrounding our house are an annual staging area for monarch butterflies. The hot dry summer has produced a bumper crop with several hundred already gathered. Most seem to prefer cedar trees where they blend in and are almost invisible - until they move. These few have been hanging around a small pine tree for the last few days where they were better to photograph.. They will be here for a week or so preparing for their migration from Ontario, Canada to Mexico.
