I bought this fine automobile in early 1997 with about 11,000 miles on it. It has been babied ever since and right now is ready to turn 60. 60K miles, that is. That really isn't a lot for a car nowadays...nor is 60 for a person, either ;-) At any rate, this car sports the original paint, top, drivetrain and other essential Mopar "parts". I have been through three of the original in-dash "Infinity" casette tape decks with their graphic equalizers (yup, I am still addicted to casette players, big-time!). The drivetrain has worked well since purchase from the original owner. And from the day of assembly for that matter. A blown piece of automatic transmission gasketing as well as a complete rear axle repair (ugh!) have been the only major repairs. The eternity of rust here in the Northeast has been the culprit for most of the underbody problems. Including the rear axle, brake, gas, tranny fluid and other essentially important pipe lines that all-of-a-sudden happen to let go unless you keep an eye on them, especially with old cars in this neck of the woods..... Changing the oil and filter regularly as well as using a car cover has enabled me to forfeit the necessity of a new top and paint job. Those heavy duty fabric/ventilated car covers are well worth the money expecially since they help the interior from ultaviolet-sun bleaching and the cracking of plastic parts (which are nowadays the rule!). BTW I have always loved MoPars since my first one (as my first car) in early 1971. That was a 1968 Plymouth RoadRunner that served me well for seven years. I kept it up well and sold it in 1978 for what I bought it for...$1,500. It looked great even though it had nearly 200K on the clock. Other than a clutch change, the stock 383 four-barrel drivetrain always ran very strong. Same goes for my 1970 Plymouth Cuda Convertible. Bought in 78, sold in 1981. It took me a few years afterwards to realize how really RARE those cars were and are! Oh yeah, what's on my want list? A 1968 (no other year!) Plymouth Satellite or (preferably) 68 Sport Satellite Convertible. Know of one for sale here in the northeast with a decent drivetrain for a-poor-ole-Joe like me (that can do basic body and interior work as needed) who would love such a car forever? Then, let me know, no kidding! MoPar Joe =================================================== |
