The Fort Mill Manufacturing Company started around 1887 with a mill in Fort Mill, SC. Fort Mill merged with the Catawba Manufacturing Company and then built a second mill beside the first (shown). In 1904 electricity was provided by the Catawba Power company (later Southern Power).

Springs Industries, Inc. owned the mill and modernized the mill into the company office building.
