Irene Mill was founded in 1904 in Gaffney, SC. The mill made damask tablecloths, napkins and towels. In the 1950s, extensive addition were made to the plant, increasing its size.

In 1986, the Irene Mill Finishing Plant was placed on the National Register and is home to Hamrick Mills, an upstate textile company.
