Chiquola Mill in Honea Path, SC was once a thriving cotton mill. The mill started production in 1903 and ended in 2003. In 1934, the mill gained attention from a shooting. Seven workers were shot and killed and 30 others injured. The day of the shooting was known as "Bloody Thursday" and caused by the General Textile Strike which affected many cotton mills in the South.

Around 2003, the town of Honea Path rejected an offer to save the mill from demolishion. As a result the mill is being dismantled slowly for materials like lumber and brick, many locals regret not saving Chiquola Mill.
