The Saxon Mills were established in 1900. The Saxon Mill in Spartanburg, SC was completed in 1906. In 1945 the mill was sold and became a polypropylene fiber plant closing in 2001 and reopening in 2002 as Saxon Fibers LLC.

The Southern Power Company had a transformer house and substation yard located behind Saxon Mill. It was built between the late 1910s and early 1920s. A line ran from the substation to Woodruff, SC using OB mutliparts. Today the old substation has been replaced by a modern substation.
