In the 1920s, Pacific Mills constructed a large mill and village near Greer, SC. The mill and village became known as Lyman, SC after the past president of Pacific Mills. Pacific (or Lyman) Mill produced sheeting and pillowcases. In 1992, Springs Industries aquired the mill and developed the Lyman Printing & Finishing Company. The old mill was let go in 2005. It was decided to demolish the mill, which was finished by Spring 2012. It wasn't to bad of a loss as that building wasn't fit for renovation (ugly building). http://www.textilehistory.org/LymanPrinting.html |
