After the Pacolet River flood of 1903, the Clifton Manufacturing Company replaced the third mill, destroyed by the flood with a new mill. The new mill, much larger and run by hydroelectric power from the plant on the Pacolet, was named Clifton Mill No. 3 but later known as Coverse Mill after the famous mill owner D. E. Converse of the Converse Company.

It can't be missed when driving down US 29 East of Spartanburg, SC. It now serves as a warehouse and office space today.
