Beaumont Cotton Mill

In 1890 the Beaumont Manufacturing Company established their first mill in Spartanburg, SC. J. H. Sloan created the mill to manufacture ropes and bags out of cotton waste and discard from other mills. It became a success and the mill was expanded. In 1945, during WWII the mill manufacturing clothing for the government and recieved Army-Navy E Awards.

Beaumont Mill was involved in the case Sherbet v. Verner in 1963. A link below describes this:

The mill closed in 1999 and demolishion of the mill buildings began shortly. In 2004 the remaining mill was renovated and holds Southern Conference offices.
