The Arkwright Cotton Mill was named after the inventor of the Spinning Frame, Richard Arkwright. The Arkwright Mills were located South of Spartanburg, SC. Production started in 1898 being driven by hyraulic power from a dam on Fairforest Creek beside the mill. In 1979 the mill ceased operation and was later demolished.
