Walked 15 miles at a huge flea market, peered through all the stalls at a big antique mall, pawed through five yard sales, and to round out this weekend, dived in a local dumpster. For all that time and expense I was pleased to give these three a new home. The Brookfield, New York pony is as green as any I have seen, the U-296 brown signal is dome embossed S S, [Smith & Stone], and the squatty one, with an inner skirt, 2.5 tall X 3 inch wide is one I have not seen before also has a beautiful marbled glaze. The glazed threads are near perfect, the top of the glazed pinhole is flat without any roughness. I would like to thank Steve Lohr for identifying this as a New Lexington U-252 and Elton Gish for confirming the information. I find it amazing that something 100 years old can look as bright and shiny today as it did the day it was made. |
