Not only did this state-of-the-art household convenience wash clothes (electrically), it assisted in wringing them out via the two spools attached to the top of the washer, as seen via the hand-crank on the right of the unit. The latter process was done by hand. These washers were known to last for many, many years of hard use and were relatively easy for the man-of-the-house to repair in the event anything needed attention.

These machines operated via a simple but highly durable electric motor and power consumption was minimal.

Surely this is a far cry from today's washing machines that need a computer-savvy tutorial before operating.

Not to mention sealed electronics and other mechanisms which not user-servicable other than lint filters and the like...
